The wedding cake consultation is always an exciting opportunity to meet clients face to face for the first time and discuss all the inspiration and the nitty gritty relating to their wedding planning as well as design ideas, colours and cake flavours. Not only do I get a chance to chat about my varied and delicious cake aromas whilst the couple indulge in a specially prepared selection of samples, but more importantly I get to know the happy couple and explore their vision for the big day.
Here are some of the details that I incorporated into Chris and Matt’s wedding cake. Theirs was a same sex wedding and their brief was “nothing too pretty pretty” but something “stunning”. I
recreated the elegant wax stamp detail which they had used for their ‘save the date’ as a sugar monogram and coloured it with a lustrous bronze.
For the bottom tier design of Chris and Matt’s cake, I created a beautiful wavy watercolour effect, which was inspired by their wedding invite. To soften the overall look I added a sculptural posy of sugar clematis which had subtle blue hues together with white hydrangeas and foliage in bronze to coordinate with their overall theme.
And I am so thrilled to see this super stylish wedding and my cake design featured in Brides Magazine (March 2019 issue).
